should the verb be in the past or present?
what difference does it make?
she said she wanted to move to florida next year
she said she wantS to move to florida next year
Re: embedded sentences
In reported speech, the verb within the report normally regresses with the reporting verb:
'I want to move to Florida next year.'
She said that she wanted to move to Florida the following year.
However, if the reported statement still holds true-- in this case, if next year is 2008-- then the writer/reporter has the option of retaining the present tense:
She said she wants to move to Florida next year.
