I am still having problems with articles (especially with them)!
I hope I am not chafing you with that (btw, can I say it like this?).
I've never heard that. You might say 'Sorry to go on/harp on about this, but...' or 'I hope I'm not getting on your nerves...' (and no, you're not)

There is more than one discussion (which is what 'a discussion' would imply); in fact, now I think of it, 'discussion' in this sentence doesn't refer either to an event or to a number of events. Rather, in the collocation with 'considerable', it refers to a general situation that favours the existence of discussions.
