Welcome, dadimo.
They're equally challenging.![]()
Grazie,thank you, Danke.
I will make my question more specific:
there are some universities that require one of the 2: IELTS or TOEFL.
one example: "Accepted as proof of English proficiency is a TOEFL test with a score of at least 550 (written version), 213 (computer-based version) or 79 (internet-based version) or an IELTS-certificate with a minimum score of 6.0."
MY QUESTION IS:
is it easier to get a Toefl 79 IBV or an Ielts 6.0?
I hope everything is clear :D
grazie ancora (again)
IELTS is managed by Cambridge ESOL (formerly known as UCLES) and the British Council and is a British English exam. Most British universities recognise IELTS scores and prefer candidates to take this test, although they sometimes accept TOEFL scores instead.
TOEFL is an American exam using American English (the computer-based test is becoming more common than the paper-based test). It is recognised for entry to most American universities (not all US universities accept IELTS scores).
The table herecompares some of the main features of the two tests in 2006.
The table here shows comparisons between test scores and level systems.
Hope that helps.
All the best.![]()
It depends on you- the TOEFL is mostly multiple choice, which pleases some, but others find harder. IELTS has the spoken component, which may benefit you if you are a confident speaker. What sort of English user are you?
I think i am a confident speaker but, on the other hand i prefer having multiple choice tasks.
I should improve my writing skills, any suggestions?
thank u Casiopea and Teodl
Here's one idea. You can post a sample essay or sample of your writing on English-Test.Net, this forum here ESL/EFL Forums - English as a Second Language - ESL Projects, and they'll give you free feedback.![]()
ohhhhhhh THANK U SO MUCH!
i hope they will give me feedback, some of the posted essays haven never been corrected.
sooooo,
thanks a lot again,
ciao bella :D
You could post a sample here too. Longer pieces tend to get ignored, as teachers spend their working time marking such things and are less likely to want to spend their free time doing the same without payment, but if you put something less demanding like a paragraph, you are much more likely to get a decent discussion going.![]()
