Post a grammar test

Hi. One of my students showed me a multiple chioce test and asked me a question that challenged me. Here is the test the correct choice of which, I said, is the first "I'd" phrase. My student, however, said, "what if we kept this one [I'd] and change the last verb phrase? What would you have told him?

I'd just waken them up, so they must be having breakfast. [Q: Which underlined part is incorrect?]

Can we preserve "I'd" and change the last verb phrase into something denoting that it is logical to conclude that they were eating at that mment in the past? What would be the CORRECT verb phrase then?

THANK YOU.
