Hi,
What's the difference between 'Some people with chronic illnesses do want to be seen as normal' and 'people with chronic diseases wish to be treated in the same way as normal people'?

Your first example uses some people, which suggests that not everybody wants to be treated that way. That's the only meaningful difference I see.
