Default Become/get

I have this difficulty in understanding the become and get.

For example:
You're getting pretty
or
You're becoming more beautiful.

I don't know exactly when to use get and when to use becoming. I just used them with my experiences, but that's not enough...

For example:
You're getting pretty
or
You're becoming more beautiful.


This may not help you, but when I was being taught English, we were discouraged from using "Get", and did exercises replacing it with appropriate verbs.

In your example I would change the second one to

You are becoming prettier or You are growing prettier
