The phonetic alphabet was not taught to students while I was in school.
Speaking was something we were expected to pick up naturally from our daily lives in Canada.
Now that I am studding English again, I would like to know.
Is it “appropriate” or a “good idea” for a teacher over seas, being one of the few living examples of their native tongue, to speak English phonetically?

English words come from many different countries.
Should words be spoken closer to their original pronunciations?

You should speak naturally; otherwise, they'll pick up artificial pronunciation patterns. If you have a very strong regional accent, you might want to tone it down a bit, but affecting a pronunciation is unlikely to work well unless you're very good at imitating accents.

Could you give me an example of what you mean by "speak English phonetically". The reason I'm asking, IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) represents spoken language exactly the way it sounds.
