Question Colour

hello there, i would like to ask, is there any word to describe from dark colour turn into light colour. For an example, I paint dark blue colour on the bottom of the wall until top of the wall. On top of the wall, the dark blue colour turn into light blue colour. .

when something turns into a lighter colour gradually, it is called 'fading'.
If you hang your clothes out in the bright sun, they will fade.
The sun had faded the bright blue walls.


dim, pale,washed-out are the other words that you can use .

I painted the wall dark blue, but on the top it dimmed a bit.
