Hi, I met the word ducting today, to my surprise, the writer discribed a small dimension pipe with the word- ducting, could you tell me the difference of those three, because the meaning of those are always same in Chinese?

As far as I know, 'ducting' is used for a system of ducts or material that could be used for one. The differences between the three terms are largely collocational- you have ducts in the body for bile, etc, and pipes for water. |

As for whether pipe and tube differ (I'm not a plumber), tube is a shape, whereas pipe is an object that has that shape. That appears to be the difference in Chinese as well:
tube, Chinese, 管
pipe, Chinese, 管子
duct, Chinese, 输送管

Thanks, Casiopea, let me discribe it again to show if I catch the real meaning or not, if it is not true, pls correct it, thanks.
tube_____it is an abstract word to tell somebody that the shape of some objects likes a pipe.
For example: Look at the cloud, it looks like a tube.
pipe_____it means a concrete object
e.g. The length of the pipe is 20m.
duct______like a pipe, liquids can be conveyed thru it.
Compressed air is conveyed to the machine through that duct.
Am I right?

Although these meanings are not cast in stone and these words can be used differently depending on the use, tubes are just like pipes but they are generally smaller in diameter.
duct______like a pipe, liquids can be conveyed thru it.
Compressed air is conveyed to the machine through that duct.
Ducts are often used to convey air but they aren't usually made to carry compressed air. Tubes and pipes do that.
