Default Expression: Make the Telfon on Ronald Reagan look sticky

    San Jose Mercury News, 3-12-2004:

"This guy makes the Telfon on Ronald Reagan look sticky," Gerston said. (He was referring to Arnold Schwarzenegger.)

What is the Telfon....? Telfon is not supposed to be sticky, as in a Telfon frying pan.

    Thanks.

The term is Teflon (short for tetrafluoroethylene). Ronald Reagan was dubbed "The Teflon President" by his detractors, allegedly because nothing stuck to him. Apparently, Schwarzenegger supposedly outdoes Reagan in that respect.

In politics, "teflon" refers to negative things (not positive things) not sticking to a person.
