like straws
Errors, like straws, upon the surface flow,
He who would search for pearls must dive below.
What is the meaning of this two line?
Could anyone explain it? (Please explain what you understand)
Also, what is the meaning of straws? here

This is my take.
'straws' would mean the dried stalks of plants. These float upon the surface of water and they're easy to see. This quote likens them to errors, which suggests that once an error is made, it is easy to see and remember.
Trying to find things valuable [pearls] come only with more work and greater effort and possibly, greater danger.

Re: like straws
What you see may be only false. You must go beyond the surface to find truth.
