Default What's the difference between who and whom?

Hello,

I have got the following question: What is the difference between who and whom? In what cases am I supposed to use either of them?
I'm looking forward to your answer.

Yours faithfully,
Valya Georgieva

Hi, Valya! Valentina is my favourite name. We ask questions to the subject of the sentence with "who". Who is your favourite writer? We ask questions to the object of the sentence with "whom". Whom did you see there? The thing is that while asking questions to the object of the sentence we can use "who" too. Who did you see there? But we can't use "whom"while asking questions to the subject of the sentence.

'Whom' is used after a preposition:
To whom did you give it?
This is formal, and most people put the preposition at the end:
Who did you give it to.
