Default Is it correct?

With Silk Stockings, I was easily able to envision Mr. Sommers’ initially controlled excitement and effortlessly watch the woman’s resolve enervate, and watch her binge, forgetting about her children’s needs. There were a few portions of the story that were especially illustrative.

Enervate is a transitive verb and an adjective. Is my usage correct? What is the object of enervate, if I am?

It looks OK to me- I'd say it was being used as a middle verb:

I suppose you could rewrite it as the women enervated their resolve.

Abnother, very similar use is the ergative verb:

It's not a huge area in English, so outside technical papers, there isn't much- many grammars skate over or simply make no mention of them. In some languages like Greek, or so I have read, there exists a Middle Voice.
