Default Made Of Me

Dear Teachers,

A. Hey girl! Now I’m done believing you, you don’t know what I’m feeling. I’m more than what you made of me.
- “I’m done believing you” means “I’m tired of believing you”, correct? And what does “what you made of me” mean in this situation?

Thanks a million

Namsteven

Default Re: Made Of Me

There are two possibly relevant meanings of 'make of', so it depends on context.

1 Educate/form: 'Six months in the army will make a man of you'.

2 Conclude/work out: 'Look at this coded message. What do you make of it?'

So, in your case, the speaker could be saying (meaning 1) 'I've developed in ways that had nothing to do with what you were trying to do - to groom me according to what you wanted. Or he/she could be saying 'there are things about me that you don't understand' (meaning 2).
