His thick black wary hair fell into his laughing eyes.

What is the meaning of `wary hair' here?

Please explain it.

That was my deadpan humour face - sorry if it wasn't clear. I guess it's an extremely unlikely context, but a hare in such a precarious position would probably be wary. (joke)
