Which one of the following answers is correct? 'a' or 'b'?
Mention the two moods of the poet.
a. Lonely (i.e., as a cloud) and Happy (i.e., gay)
b. Vacant and Pensive.
I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud
I Wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
Given that he ends up in 'the bliss of solitude', the first seem to be the over-riding ones.
OK. Richard. Thanks a lot once again. You mean the first ones are correct. Right? But will it be incorrect if I try the second ones?
No reply!!!![]()
If it's comes down to only one possibility, then the less correct one is wrong. If it's not such a choice, then why would we have to say one is wrong?
Actually someone told me the second ones are correct, and it will be wrong if I choose the first ones. So I just wanted to know if the second ones are also correct.
Meanwhile, many many thanks for your help, Richard. I am so grateful to you.![]()
