man's candour
There was disappointment at not getting the suit that I was gratitude for the man's candour.
Here, suit refers to what?
Also, if you could, please change the above sentence with your own words.

This sentence only makes sense to me if I should alter it like this.
I was disappointed for not getting the suit but I was grateful for the man's candor.
Then "suit" stands here for costume or outfit.
