Default Past simple or present perfect?

Although I´m a native speaker, I´m not quite sure which answer is correct!

    1) It´s been ages since I´ve done that

    or

    2) It´s been ages since I did that.

    HELP!!

The answer is 1) It's been ages since I've done that! Tense: present perfect, for e.g., have eaten, have come, have done.

    Hi,

I'd say " It's been ages since I've done that"

From one native speaker to another.

Since I'm not a native speaker, my answer is somewhat different from yours, but I stand on good grounds.

    1. It's been ages since I started learning English.

    2. It's been 1o years since I moved to this city.

    3. It's been ages since I did that last time.

I am on your side, Piousoul. M.Swan seems to prefer #2, too.

Thanks, Humble, for your support, but I really don't know why some people would prefer #1.
By the way, who is M. Swasn?
