Re: fish and chips
Hi,
It's the kind of food which the British are said to love most, fish and fried potatoes.

Deep fried battered fillet of fish and potato chips, sprinkled with lots and lots of salt and preferably with a dash of vinegar ( don't forget the good old tomato sauce ), served wrapped in yesterday's newpaper.
Yum !

Re: fish and chips
Specifically white fish (cod, hake, haddock) coated in batter and fried in very hot oil, with potatoes cut into strips and also fried in very hot oil. Served with vinegar and/or tomato ketchup.

In fact, the round or oval ones (or half-moon ones) are the ones we slice ourselves at home while the baton ones are the ones we buy frozen.

Ah no - the half moon ones are segments of the potato; their cross section is (roughly) triangular. I'm talking about an even slice, the same depth throughout, like this: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/potatoes.jpg

Re: fish and chips
BTW I've read the packaging is made of potatoes, too, now. Is it really edible?

Re: fish and chips
In the US, fish and chips means deep-fried fish (usually cod) and French fries.
