    It's an American expression meaning :
    1. Cool
    2. To cause harm

    e.g.
    1. She kicks ass ( she's cool )
    2. I'm gonna kick your ass and I don't care if I go to jail ( I'm going to hurt you ! )

    It's "arse" in BE and we don't use this word in formal writing.
