Default Need advise on using " I would like..." thanks, te

Is it correct to write:

I would like tomato soup than onion soup.

I would rather have tomato soup than onion soup. ( which is definitely a correct one)

Please advise, teachers! Thanks again for helping. ^o^

No. Instead, say:
  • I prefer tomato soup to onion soup.
Or:
  • I would like tomato soup instead of onion soup.

Is it Help Wanted?

:)

The phrase "would like" expresses a wish or desire. If there is a comparison involved, one needs "more than", "less than", "raher than", "instead of", "as opposed to", etc.
