    Smile Are they correct?

A1) I saw that Tyra had these big and black bags around her eyes when she didn't wear makeup.

A2) I saw Tyra have these big and black bags around her eyes when she didn't wear makeup.

Are the above 2 sentences all right?
    Thanks.

    Hello Pious

#1 is nearly correct. You need to say:

    1. I saw that Tyra had these big black bags under her eyes when she didn't wear make-up.

i.e. no "and" between "big" and "black", and "under her eyes" instead of "round her eyes".

    All the best,

    MrP

    Thanks, MrPedantic, for the comment.
If we focus on the words in bold and forget about the minor points, would you still consider both of them to be right. Thanks.

    Hi,
I guess what interested Piousoul most was whether we can use the Complex Object pattern in #2.
I think it would be wrong here as it usually includes some action while have denotes possession.

    Regards

Yes, Humble, thank you. You've found out where the problem is.

At first sight, I didn't find any problems with sentence 2, But on second thought, there seems to be some problem with the word have in the case, and I wonder if we could view have as wear. If yes, then sentence 2 is correct. Since I'm not a native speaker, it's hard for me to descide this.

Sentence A2 sounds as if Tyra intentionally or actively placed the big black bags around her eyes.

    Yes,
That seems to support my "action theory".

Thanks, Philly, for your comment again, and I concur with you on this interpretation of have here.

Therefore, sentence 2 still makes sense to you, right?

And thank you, Humble, for your concern.

    Hi Piousoul

I wouldn't go so far as to say the second sentence "makes sense" -- I simply gave you my interpretation of that particular wording. The sentence is odd because bags and/or dark circles under one's eyes cannot normally be actively applied or placed there unless done so with make-up -- but you excluded that possibility in the sentence.

Thanks, Philly, for the clarification. I got it. Yet, I'm not quite sure what the words in blue mean. Here is my wild guess:

    1. I wouldn't risk saying ...
    2. I wouldn't like to say...
    3. I am unwilling to say...

Which one is quite similar to your words in blue? Thanks.
