towering mountains, odd meter
The author was surprised at the beauty of Mt. Kinner , located at Kharogla. Kinnaur is a dream destination, full of green valleys, orchards, forested slopes and towering mountains covered with snow.
For 6 days the author and his friends were busy travelling and trekking. The 1st day they completed the 50 odd meters from Kinnaur camp through Karcham.
What does `towering mountains' , `odd meters' mean in the above paragraph.
Could anyone explain it?

Towering mountains= high mountains
50 odd meters= not exactly 50 but a little more.
