If one is dumb but has a voice,..still consider as dumb?Help
Q1:If Helen Keller has a voice, is she considered dumb?
If a question ask: Why couldn't she learn to speak?
The answer would be "because she was deaf and blind and dumb"
Is dumb one of the point to include in the above answer?
Will be sooooo thankful if any great teachers here could help clear this confusing point for Help Wanted.
Q2: Do I need to add the word " they" in the sentence?
They did not want to rouse her temper and ( they ????) felt sorry for her.
Thanksssssssssssssss sooooooooo muchhhhhhhh for helping, teachers!

Technically, no. (had a voice)

dumb"

"Being blind" doesn't have anything to do with her voice. One could include "dunb" there, but you should know that some people find that term offensive. Usually, just providng the information that a person is "deaf" is enough.

The second "they" is not necessary, but the sentence would be more natural if the clauses are reversed.
They felt sorry for her and did not want to rouse her temper.
