how do you use the idiom dog and pony show in a sentence? we're suppossed to write a story with a idiom in it and i had to do that one but i dont get it

A dog and pony show is a rehearsed, scripted presentation, as opposed to an honest, sincere discussion.

Please don't use my example, make up your own.

We expected the mayor to address our concerns about crime in our city, but all we got was a dog and pony show about the new sidewalk beautification project.

There is an implication that the dog and pony show is meant to be impressive, but lacks substance and sincerity.
