| | Re: 'so much read about' or 'read so much about' That was just an extraction from a sentence. My mistake! I should have posted the whole sentence as it was. Sorry about that! But anyway, you get the whole sentence now and give your comment! |

| | Re: 'so much read about' or 'read so much about' I have, Anges. As a native speaker of English I find the phrase "we so much read about today" awkward. Sorry. I prefer the edited version your teacher suggested, "we read so much about today."
All the best. |

| | Re: 'so much read about' or 'read so much about' This is, was, and has been the sentence I was working from: 'If it had been in our power to decide what we looked like, there wouldn't be all these eating disorder stories we so much read about today.'. |

I voted for both, because I have heard native speakers use the variant you don't agree with. Maybe they were from a fourth English speaking country.
I mean not England, USA and Canada. |

All the best. | Okay, thanks Casiopea. I'll take your advice. But isn't Harry a native speaker of English? |

| | Re: 'so much read about' or 'read so much about' This is the more natural sentence:
'If it had been in our power to decide what we looked like, there wouldn't be all these eating disorder stories we read so much about today.'.
Saying '...we so much read about today.' sounds extremely awkward to me, too. |

| | Re: 'so much read about' or 'read so much about' I guess it's one of those mistakes that people make without realising they are doing so. For example, you hear(at least I do) sentences like ' I really much wanted to talk to you', 'I so much wanted to see you'. Maybe the stressing sounds stronger this way, but anyway, now I know it's wrong...or just sounds awkward???? |

| | Re: 'so much read about' or 'read so much about' Hi Agnes 'I really much wanted to talk to you' also sounds very odd to me. (Maybe it's different in BE...)
However all of the following do sound natural to me: I very much wanted to talk to you. I really wanted to talk to you. I so much wanted to see you. I really so much wanted to see you.
Going back to your original sentence, it would sound more natural to me with the word 'often' instead of 'much':
