Nimsooze!! Where do you get these sentences? 'Get a fix on' means 'to track.' It is certainly a term derived from military technology. It would make sense in a sentence like: 'The missile had a fix on the jet for nearly a minute before the operator actually launched the missile.'

Nimsooze, the 'body' in question could be a star -- that is, not something that we are going to blow up, and that's why I said 'derived' from military technology. I betcha the technology was first used to blow stuff up; but one might be talking about using some telescope equipped with some tracking device to get a fix on some star . . . or something like that . . .
