    Default refuse

Is it possible (and correct) to say the following sentence?

    1) "He refused going to school unless his parents allowed him to take a toy with him."

or do I have to use infinitive?:

    2) "He refused to go to school unless his parents allowed him to take a toy with him."

If both of the setences are correct, do they have different meanings?
E.g. 1) going => he won't go today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow etc. - for a long time, generally
    2) to go => just one day (e.g. "today")

I think you have to use infinitive after "refuse" and consequently the second sentence is correct.

Generally, you should use "refuse + infinitive".
e.g.: He refused to go because of homework.
