What's the tense of these sentences?
Dear Sir/Ma'am
Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English(OALD) defines "tense"
as below:
************************************************** ****
tense : any of the forms of a verb that may be used to show the time of the action or state expressed by the verb (OALD)
************************************************** ****
If it is so, what are the tenses of the following sentences between "future" and "present progressive" on the basis of the above definition? I am confused when 'the time of the action or state expressed by the verb' is not in accord with 'the forms of a verb'.
A : What are you doing tonight ?
B : I'm meeting Jennifer at 7 o'clock.
I am dying to know it.

The present progressive is used in such sentences when the action is fixed beforehand.
e.g. I'm flying to New York tomorrow. ( I have already bought the ticket and I'm sure I'll fly to New York tomorrow.)
