Dear teachers,

Please read the following sentence:

Bottom retail prices have attracted some 47 million visitors, who are expected to leave behind $79 billion in 1994. That's up from $74 billion the year before.

I don't understand ' up from' in the last sentence.

Considerring the two sentences Does it mean 1994 is $5 billion more than the year before or $79 more than $74?

That means those visitors spend $5 billion more in 1974 than in the previous year.
The phrase "up from" indicates an increase.
