Default since and from in terms of time

What is the difference between since and from when you are talking in terms of time.

when is each of them used?

    1. I have been calling him up since yesterday.
    2. I ahve been calling him up from yesterday.

    Which makes sense between two.

    Hi, Saidon,
I think only since is correct.

I have been calling him up since yesterday.
I have been calling him up from 6.00pm on.

"From ..... on" is used to indicate a specified time as a starting point.
"Since" is used to express that something is in progress from then till now.
