| No one of them is wrong. (X) Not one of them is wrong. (O) Don't you of natives use the first sentence at all? Why? "One" is a noun and "no " is adjective. Adjectives modifiy nouns like " No food can be eaten." "No one of them is wrong" sounds right to me. ( I'm non-native) Please~ help me . |

| Hi, No one of contracted into none of. Why did it happen? I guess because it's easier to say. None of them is aware of the danger. Regards |

| I don't think he's saying 'no one of' is right, but that 'none of' is right. |

Hi~. "He is" contracts to "He's" "It is" contracts to "It's". " do not" contracts to "don't" In most of the cases, if two words contract into one words or short words, both are right. So, if "no one of" could be contracted into "none of", both are correct, right? But I know "none of them" is correct, but "no one of them" is not correct. That's the point. Would you explaine why? Please~ |

So "no one of" is no longer used. "No one of " might be an ancient word. Sorry to get you wrong. <Other questions.> "Not one of them is wrong." means "One of them is not wrong."? ================================= Not one of them ( is / are ) wrong. None of them (is / are) wrong. ================================== Which one is correct? Last edited by siruss; 15-Mar-2007 at 06:40. |
