    Default long-drawn-out

The war between these two countries has been long-drawn-out and episodic.

What does `long-drawn-out' mean in this sentence?
Also, I think, here episodic means events happening sometime.

    Please explain it.

    Hi,
It means it has been going on for a long time, but sometimes it stops for a while.

Long-drawn-out means that it lasted for a long time though never stopped. It was just prolonged or protracted.
