Proverb : • noun a short saying stating a general truth or piece of advice (e.g. A stitch in time saves nine). — ORIGIN Latin proverbium, from verbum ‘word’.
Idiom: • noun 1 a group of words whose meaning cannot be deduced from those of the individual words (e.g. over the moon). 2 a form of expression natural to a language, person, or group. — ORIGIN Greek idioma ‘private property’
