Default academic interest, overhaul
After India had set a target of 414 runs to win, it was clear that the run chase was only going to be of academic interest, as Bermuda neither had the batting power nor the experience to overhaul the target.


Please explain the highlighted words of the above sentence.

"academic interest" = of theoretical interest only

"overhaul the target" = "overtake the target" - go beyond the number of runs needed which was 414.
