(1) Please explain the meaning of the bold phrases in the following Paragraph: " Freddie, Freddie,Freddie. My heart, usually in my mouth, is with you as you suffer the ignominy of being caught dropping off a boat. After anyone suffers a defeat, it's only natural to drop off a boat especially in the West Indies. " (2) What is the meaning of "Lamb at the altar" ? Is it something that is to be sacrificed ?
1 He fell out of a pedalo boat because he was drunk; I think the writer is using 'drop off a boat' to mean 'get drunk'.
2 Yes; we talk about the sacrifical lamb.
