After some time, they began to feel the heat of strong desert sun. The songs and jokes stopped and they became rather quiet. Then they began to talk about the problems they had to face in their respective business activities and ventures.
What does `rather quiet' mean in this sentence? (I know quiet but I don't understand what is rather quiet)
Please explain it.
Re: rather quiet
"Rather quiet" means "very quiet or too quiet." Here in the context it means " they stopped talking"
