I'm thinking about these sentences,are they making same meanning..........if yes/no please solve my problem.thx.
(1) He sits on the chair.
(2)He is sitting on the chair.
the above sentences are making same meanning.I think.
then why are they different from each other?![]()
The first sentence carries the idea that the fellow does sit on the chair...but doesn't have to be at the moment. Imagine two people walking through a house, talking about Fred. One stops and points at the chair and says "He sits on the chair" even when Fred isn't.
The second sentence carries the idea that the fellow is using the chair at the moment of speech.
It's a subtle difference and only caught by aware people like you.
