Re: want somebody doing something? "I want you to come home soon" is clearer, but you could speak in terms of the person's act of coming home at, perhaps, a certain time, say, "At five o'clock, I want you coming home, or 'on your way.'
These structures are not incorrect as such, but now, what does "coming home" mean here, being 'on the way,' or 'walking through the door,' as it were?
Be as clear as you can in writing any sentence.
