A record
Hello,
I have a doubt. Which one of the following verbs can you not use with the noun record?
1)attain
2)hold
3)set
4)break
5)do
6)achieve
7)create
I am sure that you set/break a record..but what about the rest? Can I say: she achieved a record?
Thank you very much.

Re: A record
You can make a record, but you can't do one.

As Casi said, do doesn't work with record. I'd say 2,3,4 and 7 were all clearly acceptable, and 1 and 6 OK when used with a noun phrase: 'attain/achieve a record time/height/distance'.
Other things you can do with records: set, share, equal, miss...

PS Also 'shave/knock [unit] off': 'Radcliffe knocked 10 seconds off the record'
