Default prescribed curriculum

When we say "prescribed curriculum of a school",

How to unpack the words "prescribed" and "curriculum"? My unpacking is the curriculum is imposed by the school to the students. In other words, prescribed here means imposed and what is imposed is the curriculum. Any suggestions?

There is indeed the idea that the thing prescribed is compulsory that is imposed. your analysis seems relevant : students have to follow the curri.
