why capitalize?

......., just like You and Me( meaning ordinary people).

Below is part of a paragraph:

......., just like You and Me( meaning ordinary people).

There is no reason to capitalize those two pronouns. The writer may have done so to indicate emphasis, but there are better ways to do that.

I'd say that there was even less call to do so if the meaning is 'ordinary people'. Surely the idea of the capitals would be to elevate the status.
