Subject-verb agreement

1- Every one of the students has a schedual.( why has not have?)
2- Some of the desks in the classeoom(is-are)broken
3- None of the students (was- were)late today.
4- The number of students in this room(is-are )twenty.
5- The old in my country (is-are)caredfor by their children.

STOP! Don't throw out the grammar book quite yet.
What your grammar book is telling you is exactly what you see in your first sentence:

One of the answers
Each of the sentences
Every one of the students
.
However, you need a singular verb because the verb must agree with one/each/every one.
