Default Are sentences correct?

1. He is a good friend to George.
2. He is a good friend of George.

Are both sentences correct? If so, what is the difference in their meanings?

1. He is a good friend to George.
=> He is good to George.

2. He is a good friend of George's.
=> He's George's friend.

Just to confirm: #2 means He is one of George's good friends.
