    In this text:
"Kelsey Nelson, a 17-year-old senior at the school, said she used to listen to music after completing her tests -- something she can no longer do since the ban."

as I've known so far, after since (which means because/as) we use a clause, but in the sentence above,it seems that "since" has the meaning of "because of" . Am I correct? Can we use "since" with the meaning of "because of" ?

    many thanks

"since" here is "after the ban".
