descended into a farce, conceded the match
And Australia’s win was not without its share of drama, as after the 33 overs, it seemed that Sri Lanka had conceded the match after being offered the lights by the umpires. The Australian players started celebrating their fourth World Cup triumph with the scoreboard also flashing the team from Down under as the winner but then the umpires decided to play the remaining three overs in growing darkness as the premier One-Day tournament descended into a farce.
Please explain the highlighted group of words.

"conceded the match" - Sri Lanka retired as poor light prevented further play, so they essentially gave the match to Australia.
"the scoreboard also flashing the team from Down under" - The scoreboard is an electronic one, and it showed the Australian team (the team from Down Under) as winners - the scoreboard lights were flashing on and off.
the premier One-Day tournament descended into a farce. - The umpires decided there was enough light to play by and ordered the game to go on. As the light was impossible to see well, the players could not achieve anything so the last three overs were pointless.
