    Default comma needed?

    "Math' is AmE(,) while 'maths' is BrE.

    Is a comma obligatory after 'AmE'?

    In such a short sentence, no. (Some teachers would insist on one, though, between co-ordinate clauses joined by a conjunction, as in this case.)
