Default When do you use 'an' before h?

Can someone please explain the rule when you need to use 'an' before a word beginning with H, eg an hotel, etc. Thanks

Why do you want to use "an"? Never heard of any such rule. I always write "Im going to stay at a hotel"

"h" is a not a vocal, then use the article "a"

You use "an" before the word with "h" when it is silent. Foe example: An hour, an honest man.

Ah the Force is strong in this one!

I'm always amazed when I realize there's so many little rules we're not aware of when we use a language.

Cheers!
