workers don't show up, trying to find the right idiom

My parents run a candy store. They have workers to work in certain shifts. But some of them are lazy ones and they randomly don't show up without any notice. So either me or my parents fill in for those shifts.

My question here is, what kind of idioms can I use to say workers don't show up in their shift? I want to say something like "Workers constantly _______ on me / on, in their shift." I could use "Bail out," but it doesn't sound 100% right for this situation.

Any suggestions wouldn't go unappreciated.

You could say things such as these, I suppose:

"Some of our workers are constant no-shows."

"Some of the workers regularly leave us in the lurch, not even bothering to call in sick."

"Some of the workers constantly leave us high and dry..."

Or "We're constantly left short staffed by workers not showing up."
