In Japanese webpages, we see such a thing like 'This
webpage is link-free.' It means "You can freely put a
link to this page."
That is really misleading, isn't it?
It seems -free after some word always means
'free of -' or 'without -'. e.g. acid-free, alcohol-free,
carefree, etc. Is that right?

It think the main meaning was that there ARE NO LINNKS on that page, not refering to - CAN you post a link there...

I agree with Ben; I would not interpret it as meaning that you could get a free link there.
